Well Cookie didn’t get pregnant obviously… So we will try again… Today is her first day so we will pretend she got pregnant today

The ticker will tell when Cookie should have babies (Cookie X Dumbo). Their first days together were yesterday, they will be put together today and tomorrow as well. So in about 21 days from today if she got pregnant the first time, and she has them on the perfectly average day.

The babies are doing good, quite playful. Put your hand in and they all crawl into it to be played with. I am thinking of getting two aquariums for the boys, as they are still not getting along. Since we are keeping Autumn (Auto for short – because he is a boy), we could neuter Dumbo if we had a vet that would… I am thinking about doing it anyway, even if it is a long drive… I haven’t decided. I am new at this so I am updating the babies stats to reflect their standards.

Lionel: Standard – Marked/White with Grey Mask
Dumbo: Dumbo – SELF/Russian Blue
Autumn: Standard – Marked/White with Grey Hood

Summer

This is summer, her coat color didn’t come out quite right. She is actually a bit lighter. But she is my girl, took me many tries to get a good picture. The reason? She kept trying to get back to me. She loves to sit on my shoulder, and mess around in my hair. (Yes, I know to people that don’t like rats that is nasty… I would have thought it was nasty a few months ago.)

The Boys

I am hoping I can put the boys back together soon. They were fighting a bit much, so I separated them.

The cages I have:

1 aquarium, for babies/pregnant moms (I say the S but really only one will be in there at a time.) This is where everyone but the boys are. (Mom and babies.)
1 small cage, for anyone that needs taken to town and such (not big enough to live in.)
2 medium cages, one for males, one for young females (at this time Lionel and Dumbo are in there.)
1 large cage, for females after they are to old to breed and/or between breedings.

So the boys need to get along, I don’t have any place else for more cages (I will not do those tiny breeding cages, I just won’t. I figure I am using them enough without adding those small cages too.

They are the following (I will try to supply pictures at a later date.) Babies in italics.

I gave up on her. I thought for sure she was gone. Then Nina was sitting in her room, and she felt this nibbling on her toes!

I have lost winter, I am praying that she didn’t get eaten by Spaz (my 8 year olds cat). She escaped the cage, I have since put the babies in the aquarium where they should have been to begin with. The 8 year old didn’t want them in there as she can’t get them out, but this kind of convinced her it was a good idea.

Running off to look some more… I am really worried though because she is really friendly and normally comes when she hears us talking… *sigh

First Update

Cookies “real” babies were supposed to open their eyes tomorrow. However, they did it today. So far Devil, Winter, and whatever the kids named the one that looks just like Devil but is slightly lighter in the gray area, are all doing really well.

Miles Stones for them as they should have been:
June 26th born (were born right on time)
7-11 eyes (a day early)
7-18 eating food – estimate can be earlier or later
8-1 Remove from mom
9-25 (later is better) breed

Both Autumn and Summer are going really well. They are spending more and more time in the playpen. Monkey is also doing much better (got her from the pet shop and she looked really starved down, she is really close to the same age as Autumn and Summer, but closer in size to Cookies real litter. Cookie has taken really good care of all of them.

Autumn and Summers estimate milestones:

Birthday June 18
Eyes 7-2 (other estimates based upon this)
Food 7-9 (they are really doing well and are eating like crazy!)
7-23 Remove
9-10 Breed

Cookies litter is with Lionel.

Fed Cleo today from the pinkies, 2 pinkies left. (She ate two.)
